Why we tie our worth to our productivity

Achievement and success are great things to strive towards for many giving us a sense of purpose. However when these become the main focus point within individuals lives feelings of low self worth and esteem may begin to creep in when these values aren’t being met.

This sometimes leading to overproductivity and feeling unable to relax.

Often productivty and worth are tied together as we risk feelings of abandonment, unsafety and rejection if we’re not productive.

But you’re worth so much more than just your achievements.
There are things we can do to begin to untangle this..

  • Notice the pattern, when you find yourself looking for something to do, question whether this is something you actually want to do, or you’re just doing because you’d feel worthless if not?
  • Explore your other values, achievement and success aren’t the only values we have. Explore your connections, your spirituality. What ever else it is thats important to you
  • Make time for intentional stillness. Expose yourself to rest and allow your body to reprogramme and learn to become comfortable with it
