A not so “Merry” Christmas

Christmas isnt a happy time for everyone, the societal pressures of having a christmas where you feel connected, grateful, social and happy can often cause more feelings of guilt and overwhelm!

If you feel feelings other than just joy over the festive period, thats okay and your not alone.

Heres some ways to manage those difficult expectations.

1. Normalise having mixed emotions, its important to recognise both feelings of gratitude and sadness can coexist.

2. Reduce “Should” thinking. When we stop thinking “I should br xyz” and reframe this with “im noticing xyz” we lower our self criticism and being to take off pressure we didn’t deserve to have in the first place.

3. Daily Grounding Practice, sometimes Christmas means being in unfamiliar environments and situations, having a daily grounding practice you can use allows you to take time for you and pause if you feel you need to❤️.

How can you lower the expectations on yourself over christmas? And how would you describe Christmas makes you feel?
