Finding Joy after Emotional Burnout

It can be really common to experience little interest and pleasure in doing things when in a space of emotional burnout. Those things you previously enjoyed just don’t bring you joy anymore. However that isn’t because you’ve changed your mind on whether you enjoy them or not, its because you’re struggle to be in the present moment to feel any feelings of joy.


To manage this and reintroduce joy we have to start small:


• Shift your focus to things that feel neutral.. things that don’t seem so bad e.g. a hot tea in the morning, stroking your pet.
• Focus on the small joys, those little things that make your day a little bit easier, show gratitude towards them.

• Take off the pressure, rather than expecting yourself to feel things like fireworks and huge shifts of emotion, focus on those smaller moments that bring a slight smile to your face.
